International Woman’s Day 2008, Celebrating 99 Years!
March 8, 2008 brings the 99th official (in the US) International Woman’s Day.
On this day, people from all over the world give recognition to the most important women in their lives through gifts of flowers, chocolates, mimosas, and quality time together.
Some countries, such as Italy, recognize this day as an official holiday.
More importantly, it’s a celebration to recognize women for some of the unique and challenging roles of today’s modern society including:
- Historical figures
- Community builders
- Business leaders
- Mothers, Grandmothers, Aunt’s
- Sisters, Daughters, Friends
To kick things off, I would like to recognize one of the women who touched my life within the last year. This person has indirectly, provided me with the guidance, resources, opportunities, support and most importantly the motivation to be able to start my own business. By doing so I am able to take care of my family, stay at home and raise my daughter, and develop my professional portfolio and network to a level I never dreamed possible.
So, Thank You Tawnya Sutherland for giving us the Virtual Assistant Networking Association. VANA or VAnetworking.com was created by a virtual assistant (Tawnya Sutherland) who had a vision and made it happen. Today, Tawnya continues on strong with that vision by implementing the right tools and developing the right strategies to “fill in the gap” for the next virtual assistant. The dedication and drive that Tawnya, the members and volunteers demonstrate to continuously improve this information source and move the virtual profession forward is insurmountable…
Which woman in your life has been the most influential within the last year? We would love to hear your story.
