It Takes A Good Hook, A One Sheet, and Building Relationships To Get Free Publicity on TV
Steve Harrison, National Publicity Summit, just gave a hopping teleseminar titled, “The Three Big Secrets of Getting Free Publicity On Top National TV Shows”.
I registered for the call to learn a few inside secrets that I could use to help my clients to get onto National TV. I mean, how could a small town virtual assistant like myself ever engage the audience of The Oprah Winfrey Show? How would I act if I were around Oprah? How could I alter the lives of millions of Oprah show viewers?
Well, according to the experts getting booked on Fox News, Montel, and The Oprah Winfrey Show takes a combination of these three key ingredients:
- A Good Hook
- A One Sheet
- Building Relationships
It also helps if you keep up with the shows or at least frequent their websites. It’s easier to get booked on a show if you fall under one of the following hot topics:
To be on The Oprah Winfrey Show you simply have to come up with a story in one of the following categories:
- Health
- Weight
- Makeovers (Oprah, my grey hair and the mark on my nose from wearing my glasses to much just gotta go… )
- Crushes on Star’s from the past (Ricky Schroder I so loved you!)
- Home Decorating with Nate (Nate, can you make my home over? Pleeease…)
- Toenail trouble (…?)
To be on the Montel Show:
- Get out of dept
- Single Mom financially struggling
- Life makeover
- Identity Theft
- Desperate to Redecorate
- Identical Twins
- Health concerns
- Germs in the house
Fox News Hot Topics:
- Election coverage
- Celebrity coverage
- MovieTone news
What would I get out of being on a hot show anyway?
- I would get to meet a great bunch of people and some really hot celebrities…
- A free trip.
- A great story to post on my blog.
