The Basic Laws of Attraction in Flyer Advertising

Producing an attractive business flyer that works is an art. If you master it once you will then be able to successfully target and attract the right clients over and over.

Here are the 7 steps you need to take in order to create and distribute an attractive flyer:

STEP 1; Use these 3 basic elements in the design of your flyer:

  • A Compelling Headline
  • A Body that contains 2 or 3 benefits, keep it short and sweet
  • An enticing Call To Action

STEP 2; Gather supporting information:

  • Related graphics; remember the old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words?”. Today, you it’s important that the graphics you use are either purchased from a royalty free site or perhaps you may wish to use one of your own. A royalty free site I like is http://www.123rf.com/.
  • Clear contact information. Be sure to specify the modes of communication in which you prefer to be contacted and place this information in a highly visible spot on the page and be sure to use a clear font.

STEP 3; Create the flyer:

  • You can create the flyer yourself with your favourite desktop publishing software.
  • You can outsource this task to a virtual assistant (VA). You can ask the VA to show you some samples and build from there.

STEP 4; Printing the flyer:

  • You can use your home printer if it has a good quality output.
  • You can send it to your favourite print shop.
  • You can have your VA take care of it.

STEP 5; Mailing the flyer:

The most economical way to mail your flyer is in a standard #10 envelop. Depending on the number of flyers you wish to send out you may simply do this yourself or if it is a larger quantity you can outsource this as well.

You will want to have a list containing the names and mailing address of your target market. You may want to include a letter of introduction and your business card inside the envelope.

In Canada, you can check out the direct mailing services that Canada Post offers. Print shops sometimes will offer to mail out your promotional pieces as well.

STEP 6; Prepare for contact:

Now you must prepared for the influx in email, telephone and/or website and blog inquiries.

Remember, it’s all about making the prospect feel important. You will want to be able to empathize with them while also portraying a sense of energy and enthusiasm. Ask questions to find out the area’s in which you can help them. Tell them how you can solve their problem. Know what your competition is up to and try to come up with unique ways that you are able to go “above and beyond”.

  • Devise a custom “prospect” sheet. Be sure to include the main questions that you will want to ask these potential clients. Have copies of this with you at all times.
  • Create a custom call script that for you and/or anyone who handles calls on your behalf to follow.
  • Add a tagline in your email signature.
  • Edit your voicemail greeting to include a small blurb about your promotion.

Step 7; Promote it:

  • Blog about it and encourage customer interaction.
  • Tell the press about it; write and distribute a press release.
  • Socialize it; post it on your social networking sites.
  • Talk about it; on message boards, to your clients.
  • Share it in your newsletter.
  • Post a PDF version on your blog and/or website.
  • Post it on local bulletin boards.
  • Ask your clients if they will promote it for you in either print, electronic or both versions.

We would love to share your business flyer with our readers. Please, send us an email if you would like your flyer to be posted in our electronic flyer catalog.
